What is Qoya?

Qoya is an expressive dance and movement practice that incorporates elements of mindfulness, yoga, and dance. Qoya is conceptualized as a contemplative movement practice and a form of mind-body medicine.  It is based on a simple idea - through movement, we remember our essence as wise, wild, and free.

Qoya is also a powerful adjunct to mental health treatment, particularly when client goals involve strengthening the mind-body connection and increasing emotional awareness through expressive arts.  Qoya offers an outlet for expression and a tool for transformation that draws on the inherent wisdom of the body.  The best way to learn about Qoya is to try it!  Join me for an upcoming class.

Join us for a New Year Qoya-inspired movement session, to dance your 2025 intentions in community with others. This 90-min movement session is an integration of intention-setting, embodied movement, creative expression and dance. Bring your yoga mat and water bottle; all other materials provided.


The first time I tried Qoya with Laura, it was such an eye opening experience - I was gaining something I didn’t even know I needed. The most amazing part of it is it continues to provide that same experience each time I join with others in the circle. I always experience a sense of clarity, connection, and wholeness that I haven’t experienced anywhere else. It’s a gentle “welcome home” to my authentic and true self.
